Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) student Lily Dixon and faculty member Guillermo Delgado host creative workshops in both youth and adult facilities. Their efforts foster connected communities of artists inside and outside of the carceral system, who learn from one another via shared creative practice.
These workshops are part of RCAH’s broader commitment to engaging in the arts and humanities to root out inequities, empower communities, create more inclusive futures, and (re)imagine new possibilities for doing and being in the world. This programming helps students recognize their responsibility to engage with ongoing societal challenges like mass incarceration, while also demonstrating art’s power to spark change, reclaim agency, and grow hope in participants’ own lives.
