ABOUT

Gustav Mahler once said, “A symphony must be like the world. It must contain everything.” True to this, his Symphony No. 5encompasses all human emotions: doubt, fear, and grief, and concludes with a triumphant celebration of life. This music, with its emotional layers and complexities, is brutal, somber, beautiful, and joyful, addressing the fundamental uncertainties of our time.

An additional work will include a Fanfare selection composed by an MSU College of Music student. Octavio Más-Arocas, conductor.

Generously sponsored by Linn Van Dyne and Mike Knox.
