ABOUT

Explore ways to repurpose unwanted clothing and scrap fabric during Spartan Upcycle’s Textile Upcycle days, offered on Friday June 7, 14 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MSU Surplus Store & Recycling Center. Choose from suggested projects including apparel and non-apparel. Some include sewing while others involve no-sew methods. You’re encouraged to bring in a piece of clothing to rework but we have textiles available for free use. No experience necessary!

These making days are also a great time to prep for the ScrapFest ReFashion Show if you’d like to participate! The event is a showcase of upcycled garments made by local creatives and takes place during ScrapFest, the two-day repurposed art festival held outdoors in Old Town, Lansing. The show is not a competition and anyone can participate! Participants will get to show their upcycled garment(s) or accessory on the runway, or may arrange for a model to do so.
