ABOUT
Edward Gardner, conductor
Randall Goosby, violin
There are some orchestras that leave you awe-inspired after hearing, with an almost transcendent feeling long after the last notes are played. That is the London Philharmonic. Heard by millions on the soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings and widely celebrated as one of the world’s greatest orchestras since its founding, the London Philharmonic is truly exhilarating to hear live. Led in its history by some of the greatest names in music—Sir Georg Solti, Kurt Masur, and Bernard Haitink—the LPO is now led by acclaimed conductor Edward Gardner. The performance will also feature violin wonder Randall Goosby, hailed by The New York Times as possessing “an exquisite tone and sheer virtuosity … he brought down the house” in Barber’s virtuosic Violin Concerto. The not-to-be-missed performance also includes Beethoven’s glorious Egmont Overture, and Tchaikovsky’s euphoric Symphony No. 4, which the composer himself considered his best symphony.
