ABOUT
A lecture and reading in conversation with artists and movements of the Global South seeking self-determination and what Edward Said named as “the right to narrate.” Palestinian-American poet and organizer Zaina Alsous will interrogate who has the right to name, and what violences are wrought when this right is denied. She will discuss Mahmoud Darwish, June Jordan, Jayce Salloum, Sylvia Winter, and Joaquin Torres-Garcia, who refocus our attention away from dehumanization and towards imagining a future rooted in solidarity and codignity with the land.
