ABOUT

Join us May 7 from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm.

Among the many decisions faced by new parents, choosing how to feed your baby can be surprisingly fraught. Breastfeeding, whether nursing or pumping, is often touted as the best option. However, access to the resources needed to successfully breastfeed has been seen as a social justice issue in recent years. Join us in a conversation on the myths and misinformation around breastfeeding as we address the personal, biological, societal, and economic factors that go into food access for babies. A light lunch will be provided.

Panelists:

  • Natosha Sage-El Bylsma, an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant
  • Sarah Comstock, an MSU professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition
  • Myra Lee Fowler, a policy analyst in the Women, Infants, and Children division of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
