ABOUT

In 2025, we’re celebrating 10 years of Broad Underground!

Global Groove 1973/2012 (Nov. 10, 2012–Mar. 10, 2013) was one of the first exhibitions organized by the MSU Broad Art Museum for its grand opening in 2012. Curated by Michael Rush—the museum’s founding director who was internationally recognized for his observations on video art—it paid homage to Nam June Paik’s influential video from 1973, Global Groove. In 2015, the museum organized the exhibition Moving Time: Video Art at 50, 1965–2015 (Oct.17, 2015–Feb. 14, 2016), one of the final exhibitions conceived by Rush before his untimely passing and the catalyst for the creation of the Broad Underground series.

Featuring Paik’s Global Groove and a selection of works from the Moving Time exhibition, this event travels through time and time-based media to celebrate 10 years of Broad Underground.
