ABOUT

Italian composer and violinist Ottorino Respighi was a master of orchestral colors. He was also drawn to the sensual and decadent depictions of ancient Rome as well as ancient Italian music. He masterfully infused his compositions with the excitement, beauty, and grandeur of his beloved Rome.

The concert will feature Pines of Rome, one of Respighi’s most celebrated works, considered a triumphant masterpiece that magnificently depicts the splendor of Rome.

The concert will also highlight the triumphal winners of the annual Honors Concert Competition, and a Fanfare selection composed by an MSU College of Music student.

Octavio Más-Arocas, conductor.
